Comparing by context - How to compare texts - GCSE English.
A comparative essay should be made up of equal parts of the texts or poems you are writing about, going into detail about each of the topics but also making comparisons and contrasts throughout.

I'm not clued up on GCSE mark schemes anymore so I can't be of much use to grade your work but I think you have some good close reading skills. With regards to the comparison side of things it might be an idea to try and write about the two texts together instead of analysing one text and then the other.

Directly link and compare the poems throughout. If certain techniques were asked i used to go through each technique whilst comparing all the poems together. Although don't worry if you can't link a specific technique to all the poems, just make sure you cover all the poems at some point in your answer, even if you write less for a particular poem.
